The separate shaftless unwinder is connected to the body of machine via an over head web path and is fully equipped to pick up heavy jumbos from the pallet and unwind the reel at a constant tension. The rewinding direction on any station can be switched directly, without changing the web path, hence keeping the metallized side of the web always in full operator’s view.
